Director Zack Snyder steps aside for a producing role, while the directing reins is handed over to helmer Noam Murro (Smart People), who seems perfectly comfortable in continuing the same visual flair of the 2006 original. The story, this time, centers on the blood-soaked battle between the Persian Army and the Spartans led by Greek general Themistocles who, after the fall of King Leonidas, is tasked with saving the city of Athens.
Noam Murro's 300: Rise Of An Empire is written by Zack Snyder & Kurt Johnstad and stars Sullivan Stapleton, Eva Green, Lena Headey, Hans Matheson, David Wenham, Rodrigo Santoro, Igal Naor, Callan Mulvey, Jack O'Connell, Andrew Tiernan. The movie opens in 2D, 3D theaters and IMAX 3D on March 7th, 2014.
Based on Frank Miller's latest graphic novel Xerxes and told in the breathtaking visual style of the blockbuster "300," this new chapter of the epic saga takes the action to a fresh battlefield--on the sea--as Greek general Themistokles (Sullivan Stapleton) attempts to unite all of Greece by leading the charge that will change the course of the war. "300: Rise of an Empire" pits Themistokles against the massive invading Persian forces led by mortal-turned-god Xerxes (Rodrigo Santoro), and Artemisia (Eva Green), vengeful commander of the Persian navy.
