LaBeouf Arrested For DUI (Updated)

Actor SHIA LaBEOUF has reportedly been arrested in Hollywood for driving under the influence (DUI) after he was involved in a car accident. The Transformers star, 21, is alleged to have collided with another vehicle at around 3am on Sunday (27Jul08) at the junction of La Brea and Fountain. According to website TMZ.com, when police attended to the incident, LaBeouf was reportedly arrested on suspicion of felony DUI after showing "outward signs" of intoxication. Paramedics were called to the scene and the actor was taken to a local hospital. LaBeouf is no stranger to the law - in November (07), he was accused of drunken trespassing after refusing to leave a Chicago, Illinois convenience store at 4am, but the misdemeanour charges were subsequently dropped. Then, in February (08), he was charged with smoking in a prohibited area in California - to which he pleaded guilty and was forced to pay a $500 (£250) fine for the offence. His latest legal woe comes just three months after he vowed never to get arrested again - because he didn't want to hamper his promising film career. In May (08), he said, "There's nothing cool about getting arrested for stupid stuff at my age. But it keeps happening to me. I could pretend that I find it all highly amusing, but I'd be lying. "It's deeply embarrassing. I decided a long time ago to stop doing stupid things, so clearly I've still got some work to do on myself. I'm not anonymous any more. "Now, I light up a cigarette in the wrong place and overnight I'm the Al Capone of misdemeanours. What I've got in terms of acting is too important for me to jeopardise." Police questioned the young star after he was involved in a car accident in Los Angeles, and quickly realised he had been drinking. The Indiana Jones and The Kingdom of The Crystal Skull star's truck flipped across a road after colliding with another vehicle. LaBeouf, 22, and his passenger were injured in the accident. The actor smashed his hand in the crash and will reportedly require surgery to fix the damage. His unnamed passenger sustained a minor head injury, according to TMZ.com. LaBeouf was taken to hospital following the accident. Reports suggest the actor will be cited and released on suspicion of a DUI misdemeanour. LaBeouf's brushes with the law have hit the headlines on a number of occasions in the past year - in November (07), he was booked on trespassing charges after refusing to leave a drugstore in Chicago, Illinois and in February (08), he was charged with smoking in a prohibited area in California. LATEST: TRANSFORMERS star SHIA LaBEOUF leaned on a wall and looked stunned after rolling his truck in a horror crash in Los Angeles. A witness tells how he heard a woman scream "f**k" and then saw LaBeouf's female passenger crawling from the wreckage just seconds after the accident in the early hours of Sunday morning (27Jul08). Onlookers rushed to help them as they stood against a wall at the side of the road. The witness told website TMZ.com that when he got to the scene, "Shia was already out of the car and the female riding with him was crawling out of the driver's side of the truck. The truck was smoking, making noise and still running. Shia and the female stood over by a wall while people were checking to see if everyone was okay". Police and ambulance crews arrived on the scene within five minutes, and LaBeouf, 22, was taken to hospital where he received extensive surgery to his left hand, and treatment for injuries to his head and knee.
