Wolverine Claws Its Way To The Top Of The Box Office

X-Men Origins: WolverineRentrak Theatrical, a business unit of Rentrak Corporation (NASDAQ:RENT) , today announced the weekend theatrical box office estimates for the weekend period of May 1 through May 3, 2009 according to the company's Box Office Essentials(TM) theatrical box office data collection and analytical service.

The twelve estimated top producing motion pictures for the weekend, per data collected as of 9:30AM Pacific on Sunday, May 3, 2009 by Rentrak Theatrical include:

1. X-Men Origins: Wolverine: $87,000,000
2. The Ghosts Of Girlfriends Past: $15,325,000
3. Obsessed: $12,200,000
4. 17 Again: $6,355,000
5. Monsters vs. Aliens: $5,800,000
6. The Soloist $5,600,000
7. Earth: $4,184,000
8. Fighting: $4,173,160
9. Hannah Montana The Movie $4,075,000
10. State Of Play: $3,655,275
11. Fast & Furious: $2,725,290
12. Battle For Terra: $1,064,200

Yeah, Maverick is Agent Zero. In a revamp of some of the X-Books, the Maverick identity was dropped and Nord became Agent Zero. It seemed pretty pointless at the time since he was killed off shortly after anyway. Starman
