"The Help" Helps Itself To Number 1 At The Box Office

 Last week's number 1 and number 2 movies did the ole switcheroo this week as Buena Vista's "The Help" moved from the 2 spot to number 1 with a estimated take of $20.4 million while "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" which had held the number 1 spot for two weeks in a row fell to number 2 with a estimated take of $16.3 million.The latest installment in the Spy Kids franchise, "Spy Kids: All the Time in the World" opened at number 3 this week with a estimated take of $12 million while the remake of "Conan The Barbarian" had a lackluster opening at number 4 with an estimated take of $10 million. Rounding out the top 5 this week was the family favorite "The Smurfs" which had a estimated take of $8. "Fright Night" which was another 80's remake opening in theaters this week had an even worse opening than Conan did coming in at number 6 with a estimated take of $7.9 million, and the new Anne Hathaway romance "One Day" also showed a dismal opening coming in at number 9 with a estimated take of $5.1 million. The ten estimated top-producing motion pictures for the weekend, per data collected as of Sunday, August 21, 2011 include: 1. The Help: $20,479,000 2. Rise of the Planet of the Apes: $16,300,000 3. Spy Kids: All the Time in the World: $12,020,000 4. Conan the Barbarian (2011): $10,000,000 5. The Smurfs: $8,000,000 6. Fright Night (2011): $7,900,000 7.
