21 Jump Street Jumps To The Top Of The US Box Office

The Jonah Hill & Channing Tatum big screen adaptation of the television series "21 Jump Street" opened this week at number 1 with an estimated take of $35 million. "Dr. Seuss' The Lorax" fell to the number 2 spot in it's 3rd week with an estimated take of $22.8 million while Disney's "John Carter" fell to number 3 with an estimated take of $13.5 million. Rounding out the Top 5 this weekend were "Project X" which came in at the 4 spot with a estimated take of $4 million and Eddie Murphy's "A Thousand Words" which came in at number 5 with a estimated take of $3.7 million. The ten estimated top-producing motion pictures for the weekend, per data collected as of Sunday, March 18, 2012 include: 1. 21 Jump Street: $35,000,000 2. Dr. Seuss' The Lorax: $22,800,000 3. John Carter: $13,515,000 4. Project X: $4,005,000 5 A Thousand Words: $3,750,000 6. Act of Valor: $3,678,000 7. Safe House: $2,800,000 8. Journey 2: The Mysterious Island: $2,460,000 9. Casa De Mi Padre: $2,200,000 10. This Means War: $2,125,000
