Universal Moves 'Ted' Into June 29th Release Vacated By 'G.I. Joe: Retaliation'

Thanks to Paramount Pictures for taking the G.I. Joe: Retaliation off June 29th to add 3D, Universal execs moved quickly to grab this date for their 'R'-rated comedy Ted and take over the fourth of July week. Ted was originally scheduled for July 13th. Seth MacFarlane is the writer, director, producer, and voice talent behind the foul-mouthed teddy bear alongside Mark Wahlberg and Mila Kunis.
"The movie has had so much buzz since the minute the trailers were released that we’ve been looking to see if there was an earlier date available," Universal told sources. "It also gives us two more weeks of primetime summer. And allows for the word of mouth to build through the weeks up through Fourth Of July."
All of Hollywood is shocked that Paramount pulled G.I. Joe: Retaliation and gave up the date, especially since Paramount blew lots of money on a Superbowl commercial and already started TV commercials and various ads.
