Here's the debut trailer for Disney's fantasy adventure film, "Oz The Great and Powerful," in which actor James Franco reunites with his "Spiderman" director Sam Raimi. Inspired by author L. Frank Baum's beloved book, the film is designed as a prequel to the classic 1939 film "The Wizard of Oz." The story follows Oscar Diggs (Franco), a small-time magician / con-man from Kansas, who is magically transported to the enchanting land of Oz, where he must somehow transform himself into the great and powerful Wizard. Starring alongside Franco as the three iconic witches are Mila Kunis (as Theodora), Rachel Weisz (as Evanora) and Michelle Williams (as Glinda). Set to open in theaters next year in March, the trailer indicates that director Raimi is keeping the idea that Kansas is shot in black-and-white, while The Land of Oz will be pictured in full Technicolor. Take a look.
When Oscar Diggs (James Franco), a small-time circus magician with dubious ethics, is hurled away from dusty Kansas to the vibrant Land of Oz, he thinks he's hit the jackpot -- fame and fortune are his for the taking -- that is until he meets three witches, Theodora (Mila Kunis), Evanora (Rachel Weisz) and Glinda (Michelle Williams), who are not convinced he is the great wizard everyone's been expecting. Reluctantly drawn into the epic problems facing the Land of Oz and its inhabitants, Oscar must find out who is good and who is evil before it is too late. Putting his magical arts to use through illusion, ingenuity -- and even a bit of wizardry -- Oscar transforms himself not only into the great and powerful Wizard of Oz but into a better man as well.
