Universal Drops Kristen Stewart From 'Snow White' Sequel - UPDATE
Reported by Outsiders - 03:49 PM 2012.08.15

Universal has decided to move forward with the sequel to Snow White and the Huntsman but they are leaving Snow White behind. The sequel will focus on a solo Huntsman movie starring Chris Hemsworth with Kristen Stewart not being invited to return.

According to THR, the sequel is being reconceived as a spinoff movie and it's unclear if director Rupert Sanders is returning. Production have told sources that he will return but screenwriter David Koepp, who had been hired to pen the continuation of the original film, is being settled out of his rich contract, according to sources, as the project is being transformed into something other than the movie that Koepp had been hired to write.

Many believe the dropping of Stewart has to deal with the her and Sanders apologizing publicly for a romantic affair after compromising photos of the duo were published in July. As of now, Universal is looking for a new writer and hope to start filming in July when Hemsworth will become available.

Universal Pictures is taking all steps of outright denying the Hollywood Reporter story that Kristen Stewart had been dumped from the sequel to Snow White And The Huntsman.

The studio issued this statement from Universal Co-Chairman Donna Langley: "We are extremely proud of Snow White And The Huntsman and we’re currently exploring all options to continue the franchise. Any reports that Kristen Stewart has been dropped are false."
