DId you ever wonder what the frak is all this talk about FRAK around BSG fans? We talked who Richard Hatch about what the FRAK is all about. He give us some insights and more details about what the frak he's been doing these days.
ENI: What does FRAK mean?
Richard Hatch: The word Frak means the same as that cuss word FUCK or SHIT, believe it or not. And was created to replace those controversial words to get by the censors and also to give the Galactica world some slightly different slang words to play with.
ENI: Where did the word Frak come from?
Richard: Not sure where Frak came from but it was spelled Frack not FRAK in the original BG series 30 years ago.
ENI: Are there any other words you guys used?
Richard: The other words BG have used are Feldercarb, meaning CRAP or SON OF A BITCH!! CENTON, meaning HOURS, MUSHIES meaning food or TOASTER, meaning a technological or robotic creature like the Cylons.
ENI: Got any good stories about working on set?
Richard: One day the Cylons were all standing in a row and one of them tried to get out of their suit without help to take a crap and ended up falling over creating a ripple of Cylons tumbling forward one after the other.
ENI: What was it like to work with Edward James Almos?
Richard: Eddie never directed me but every one of the actors loved working with him as a director because he was so supportive and creative with his direction, giving the actors room and confidence to experiment and play with the direction of a scene while also at the same time serving the material. He knew how to direct, guide and focus the actors on the important elements of a scene when necessary and when to stay out of the way and let the actors do their thing. And of course he knew how actors think and could speak their language, which always makes it easier for everybody.
ENI: What the FRAK are you working these days?
Richard: I’m working on many other projects these days including Soulgeek; a match.com for geeks and my new reality show “Who The Frak is the REAL Richard Hatch”, which is a docu-drama about my 40 year old journey through this acid test of your soul called show business, told through the eyes of my Son and my best buddies who watch my back.
ENI: Any new movies or TV shows in the works?
Richard: I’m also working on a movie I’m planning on directing called “Don’t Let The Sun Catch You Crying” and teaching and lecturing all over the world on Acting, writing and Workshops like Moving From Fear To Self Mastery and Unleashing Your Power and Creative Vision; workshops to help give people the skills, inspiration and support to go after their dreams and find their place in the world.
