Goyer Flash R.I.P.

Following yesterdays news of Joss Whedon leaving Wonder Woman, it now appears that David Goyer is no longer doing a movie based on the DC Comic character The Flash. Goyer posted the following on his blog yesterday:
"Well, I've been waiting a few months to relate this news -- but I am sad to say that my version of The Flash is dead at WB. The God's honest truth is that WB and myself simply couldn't agree on what would make for a cool Flash film. I'm quite proud of the screenplay I turned it. I threw my heart into it and I genuinely think it would've been the basis of a ground-breaking film. But as of now, the studio is heading off in a completely different direction. I expect you'll hear of some new developments on that front shortly."
This would also explain comments actor Ryan Reynold's made to MTV last week:
"It isn't something that I can imagine happening, but I know it's something a lot of comic-book fans are excited for.
"I get asked about it all the time, and if you even utter a word about it, it's all over the Internet. It's so completely out of my control.
"It's in the hands of the dark overlords of Warner Brothers... If they do make it, I'd still love to be a part of it."
Reynolds boasted about playing the sought-after role in interviews last year (06), but now accepts the project may have run its course.
