Chris Eccleston Joins 'G.I.Joe' Movie As Destro

It has been confirmed that Chris Eccleston (Dr. Who) will be taking on the role of the arms dealer "Destro". Eccleston joins a cast that consists of Ray Parks (Snake-Eyes), Sienna Miller (Baroness), Rachel Nichols (Scarlett), Said Taghmaoui (Breaker), Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (Heavy Duty), Marlon Waynes (Ripcord), Channing Tatum (Duke), Dennis Quiad (Hawk), Arnold Vosloo (Zartan). Joseph Gordon-Levitt is rumored to have gotten the role of Cobra Commander.
Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Hasbro's Brian Goldner will produce a G.I. Joe live-action movie scheduled for release in August 7, 2009. Joining the production team along with newly-named director, Stephen Sommers, and business-partner Bob Ducsay will be scribe Stuart Beattie. It is being reported that the movie began shooting yesterday (2/11).

well i LOVED him in dr who and heroes. now i don't think he will deleiver the voice WE are used to from the cartoon BUT i believe he can deliver the scotish accent that destro SHOULD have based on file cards and comics. this may be a major sticking point for many fans either casual or hard... read more |

This just increased my estimation of the movie by a notch. Woob. (but he still needs to deliver a voice, and I always presumed Destro in the cartoons deliberately spoke in a way as to hide any Scottish accent to keep his identity less known.) |
