AMC Theatres Goes "Back To The Future"
Reported by Jay Cochran - 10:18 PM 2010.09.28

AMC Theatres (AMC), a leading theatrical exhibition and entertainment company, is proud to partner with Universal Pictures to offer guests the chance to see the timeless film BACK TO THE FUTURE for a limited time, exclusively in more than 150 theatres spanning 40 markets.

“BACK TO THE FUTURE is a beloved family classic and this is a great opportunity to allow families to come back to the theatre to see this iconic film”

Together with Universal, AMC will celebrate the 25th anniversary of this phenomenally popular movie, which was originally released on July 3, 1985 and spent 11 weeks as the #1 movie in the United States.

“We are pleased to offer guests a convenient time for families to enjoy this ageless PG-rated movie, creating not only nostalgia for parents but also a new family sharing experience for children,” said Robert J. Lenihan, president of programming at AMC.

“A quarter century after its initial release, BACK TO THE FUTURE remains a beloved cultural touchstone for a generation of moviegoers all over the world,” said Craig Kornblau, president of Universal Studios Home Entertainment. “We are thrilled to offer new audiences the opportunity to enjoy this timeless, fun-filled action-adventure, with its iconic characters and prolific storytelling, on the big screen with these very special showings.”

“BACK TO THE FUTURE is a beloved family classic and this is a great opportunity to allow families to come back to the theatre to see this iconic film,” said Nikki Rocco, president of distribution at Universal.

“For our 25th anniversary, BACK TO THE FUTURE has been restored and remastered, and it now looks and sounds even better than it did in 1985,” said Bob Gale, co-creator/co-writer/co-producer of BACK TO THE FUTURE. “In a word, it’s glorious! If you've never experienced it on the big screen with an audience, then you absolutely must attend this special event!”

Showings will be at 12:30 p.m. local time on Saturday, Oct. 23 and 7 p.m. local time on Monday, Oct. 25, the same night that main character Marty McFly (portrayed by Michael J. Fox) went “back in time.”

Guests who attend these showings will enjoy a free, full-sized, 25th anniversary BACK TO THE FUTURE poster to commemorate the event (while supplies last.) Plus, guests who “like” AMC Theatres on Facebook or who are members of the MovieWatcher network will be eligible to win a BACK TO THE FUTURE Blu-ray Disc or DVD trilogy set. The newly restored 25th anniversary BACK TO THE FUTURE trilogy will be available on both Blu-ray Disc and DVD nationwide on Oct. 26.

Tickets for this limited-time, special event are now available online at www.AMCTheatres.com/bttf or at participating theatres. For participating markets and theatres, please visit www.AMCTheatres.com/bttf.
