The Dark Knight Rises - 'He Was The Batman'
Reported by Outsiders - 08:48 PM 2012.07.11
While promoting the upcoming comic book movie "The Dark Knight Rises," actor Gary Oldman made an appearance last night on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, where he debuted the first clip from the highly anticipated film. The 30-second clip sees Oldman as Commissioner Jim Gordon talking to a young police officer named John Blake (played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt). Curious about the whereabouts of the missing Caped Crusader, Blake attempts to extract some information from Gordon on Batman's secret identity. However, the-always-honest Gordon seems a bit vague about the subject. "Rises" opens next week on July 20th. It has been eight years since Batman vanished into the night, turning, in that instant, from hero to fugitive. Assuming the blame for the death of D.A. Harvey Dent, the Dark Knight sacrificed everything for what he and Commissioner Gordon both hoped was the greater good. For a time the lie worked, as criminal activity in Gotham City was crushed under the weight of the anti-crime Dent Act. But everything will change with the arrival of a cunning cat burglar with a mysterious agenda. Far more dangerous, however, is the emergence of Bane, a masked terrorist whose ruthless plans for Gotham drive Bruce out of his self-imposed exile. But even if he dons the cape and cowl again, Batman may be no match for Bane. The Dark Knight Rises stars Christian Bale, Anne Hathaway, Tom Hardy, Marion Cotillard, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman
