Les Miserables - 'On My Own' Trailer

Christmas competition is heating up so much that Universal Pictures decided to drop one final trailer for their musical epic "Les Miserables," (out on Dec 25th). While previously-released clips featured the singing talents of Hugh Jackman, Anne Hathaway, and Russell Crowe, this new trailer takes the opportunity to showcase the vocal pipes of newcomer Samantha Barks, who incidentally makes her feature film debut co-starring as the lovesick outcast Eponine. Here, the singer/stage actress is seen crooning the iconic song "On My Own." Check it out, above. Set against the backdrop of 19th-century France, Les Miserables tells an enthralling story of broken dreams and unrequited love, passion, sacrifice and redemption -- a timeless testament to the survival of the human spirit. Hugh Jackman plays ex-prisoner Jean Valjean, hunted for decades by the ruthless policeman Javert (Russell Crowe) after he breaks parole. When Valjean agrees to care for factory worker Fantine’s (Anne Hathaway) young daughter, Cosette, their lives change forever.
