When it was released in 2010, the Eli Roth-produced horror flick "The Last Exorcism" scared audiences so much that the low-budget film earned enough of a sizable profit that a sequel was green-lit by the film's producers. Now that "Part II" has been penciled for a March 1st theatrical release by CBS Films, the studio has unveiled the first trailer for the horror sequel, which picks up where the original film left off. Here, Ashley Bell reprises her role as the unlucky pale-skinned farmer's daughter who was possessed by a contorting demon, but now finds herself in a muddled state after her terrifying exorcism has left her mind completely warped. Though trying to piece her life back together, she soon realizes that her demon days aren't totally gone.
The movie, which appears to have wisely dropped the "found-footage" style for more traditional storytelling, was directed by Canada helmer Ed Gass-Donnelly (Small Town Murder Songs). He replaces the film's original director Daniel Stamm, who's currently busy with other projects. Julia Garner, Spencer Treat Clark and Muse Watson round out the cast.
Continuing where the first film left off, Nell Sweetzer (Ashley Bell) is found terrified and alone in rural Louisiana. Back in the relative safety of New Orleans, Nell realizes that she can't remember entire portions of the previous months only that she is the last surviving member of her family. Just as Nell begins the difficult process of starting a new life, the evil force that once possessed her is back with other, unimaginably horrific plans that mean her last exorcism was just the beginning.
