Paramount's 'Hercules' Faces Off Against Marvel's 'Guardians Of The Galaxy'

Reported by Outsiders - 2013.01.17

Paramount has decided on August 8th, 2014 for the theater release of Brett Ratner's Hercules, starring Dwayne Johnson as the legendary strongman. Ratner's and Johnson's Hercules will be coming out a week after Disney/Marvelís Guardians Of The Galaxy is slated to bow.

Hercules is an adaptation of the 2008 Radical Studios graphic novel Hercules: The Thracian Wars, which takes the supernatural out of classical mythology and places it in a more real-world context. If the adaptation makes box numbers than the studios feel it can become a franchise and the graphic novel sequel, The Knives Of Kush will be adapted.

Production is scheduled to start soon from a script by Ryan Condal, with revisions by Evan Spiliotopoulos. Aside from Johnson, no other cast has been announced.
