Oblivion - 'Two Weeks' TV Spot

Reported by Outsiders - 02:37 PM 2013.01.21

Tom Cruise hasn't acted in a futuristic setting since 2002's Minority Report. But after a decade-long hiatus, he makes his science-fiction genre return with director Joseph Kosinski's "Oblivion" (opening in theaters on April 12th). And judging by this new jaw-dropping 45-second TV spot, which was televised during yesterday's football playoffs, the wait may have been totally worth it.

Based on Kosinski's own comic book, the film is set in the post-apocalyptic future where Earth has been badly destroyed by a devastating alien invasion. Cruise stars as a simple Earth-bound repairman that only has two more weeks of searching the surface for broken drones before he joins the rest of the human race in a massive global evacuation. However, after encountering a goggle-wearing Morgan Freeman, who plays a truth-seeking leader of an underground army of human rebels who have vowed to remain on Earth, Cruise becomes a key player in the salvation of his beloved home planet. Olga Kurylenko and Andrea Riseborough co-star.

Tom Cruise stars in Oblivion, an original and groundbreaking cinematic event from the director of TRON: Legacy and the producer of Rise of the Planet of the Apes. On a spectacular future Earth that has evolved beyond recognition, one manís confrontation with the past will lead him on a journey of redemption and discovery as he battles to save mankind.

Oblivion stars starring Tom Cruise, Morgan Freeman, Olga Kurylenko, Andrea Riseborough, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau , Melissa Leo
