A great hair-and-makeup team can be an essential part of the storytelling process. And nothing proves that better than this trailer for HBO's upcoming biopic "Phil Spector," which features the first look at a 'fro-wearing Al Pacino as the eponymous producer/songwriter, who was mostly known for producing landmark albums for legendary music icons (such as The Righteous Brothers, The Beatles, The Ronettes, etc), until his shocking arrest for the shooting death of an obscure Hollywood actress in 2003 made him a tabloid sensation across the globe.
Written and directed by David Mamet, the film essentially charts the eccentric composer's downfall, during his first blistering courtroom trial, which kicked off an OJ-type media frenzy. Helen Mirren co-stars as Spector's defense attorney who, according to this preview, believes he has been unfairly scrutinized by the press, though, finds him completely uncontrollable. Co-starring Jeffrey Tambor, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Yolonda Ross, and James Tolkan, "Phil Spector" is slated to premiere on HBO, starting on Sunday, March 24th.
Written and directed by David Mamet, PHIL SPECTOR is his exploration of the client-attorney relationship between legendary music producer Phil Spector (Al Pacino) and defense attorney Linda Kenney Baden (Helen Mirren), who represented Spector during his first trial for murder. Mamet serves as executive producer with Barry Levinson.
