A large number of post-apocalyptic movies are coming out this year. But "After Earth" is a little different than most. For instance, it has not only one, but (count them) two Smiths: Will and Jaden. It also has one directing M Night. And, judging by this just-released, full-length trailer (posted above), there's a boatload of mean-looking creatures.
Set 1000 years into the future, this action-adventure film sees Will Smith as legendary general Cypher Raige, who's traveling with his estranged teenage son (Jaden) on a military spacecraft. When all of a sudden, they crash land on Earth, and soon discover the planet has evolved into a hostile jungle with all new species of dangerous animals. The only way to get help is by trekking through the rough terrain and contacting a beacon signal. The problem is, Cypher is badly injured, forcing his inexperienced son to enter the mission alone.
A crash landing leaves teenager Kitai Raige (Jaden Smith) and his legendary father Cypher (Will Smith) stranded on Earth, 1,000 years after cataclysmic events forced humanity's escape. With Cypher critically injured, Kitai must embark on a perilous journey to signal for help, facing uncharted terrain, evolved animal species that now rule the planet, and an unstoppable alien creature that escaped during the crash. Father and son must learn to work together and trust one another if they want any chance of returning home.
After Earth stars Will Smith, Jaden Smith, Isabelle Fuhrman, Zoe Kravitz
