Movie Goers Face Oblivion This Week At The Box Office

Tom Cruise's new sci fi thriller "Oblivion" opened at number 1 this weekend with an estimated take of $38.1 million, while Harrison Ford and Chadwick Boseman's sports drama "42" fell to number 2 in its second week with an estimated take of $18 million.

The animated film "The Croods" holds the number 3 spot with an estimated take of $9.5 million, while Charlie Sheen's horror comedy "Scary Movie 5" fell to the 4 spot with an estimated take of $6.2 million.

Rounding out the Top 5 this week is "G.I. Joe: Retaliation" which brought in an estimated take of $5.7 million.

The ten estimated top-producing motion pictures for the weekend, per data collected as of Sunday, April 21, 2013 include:

1. Oblivion: $38,152,000
2. 42: $18,025,000
3. The Croods: $9,500,000
4. Scary Movie 5: $6,296,000
5 G.I. Joe: Retaliation: $5,775,000
6. The Place Beyond the Pines: $4,746,000
7. Olympus Has Fallen: $4,500,000
8. Evil Dead (2013): $4,100,000
