Warner Bros. latest attempt to relaunch the Superman franchise with "Man of Steel" seems to have paid off at the box office, pulling in an estimated take of $113 million for its opening weekend.
The new comedy "This is the End" starring James Franco, Jonah Hill and Seth Rogen opened at number two with an estimated take of $20.5 million, while the Jesse Eisenberg thriller "Now You See Me" held at number three for its third week with an estimated take of $20.5 million.
Vin Diesel, Paul Walker & The Rock continue to hold strong in "Fast & Furious 6" coming in at number four this week with an estimated take of $9.4 million, while last week's number one "The Purge" drops to number five this week with an estimated take of $8.2 million.
