Elysium - 'Tech Of Elysium' And 'Special Ops' Featurettes

Reported by Outsiders - 2013.07.19

Filmmaker Neill Blomkamp shows us how Earth will be like in 150 years from now -- and it doesn't look pretty. In his futuristic thriller "Elysium" (due to hit theaters on August 9th), the planet goes completely to hell and all of society are living in slum-like conditions. Yet, more interestingly, the people enforcing the law are actually not people at all, but a high-tech army of Droids.

And as you will find out in the first of these two featurettes that dive into the movie's technical side (via the amazing craftsmanship from the people of WETA), the Droids are brutal bastards that will break your arm in a blink of an eye. You better watch out Matt Damon!

In the year 2159 two classes of people exist: the very wealthy who live on a pristine man-made space station called Elysium, and the rest, who live on an overpopulated, ruined Earth. Secretary Rhodes (JODIE FOSTER), a government official, will stop at nothing to enforce anti-immigration laws and preserve the luxurious lifestyle of the citizens of Elysium. That doesn't stop the people of Earth from trying to get in, by any means they can. When unlucky Max (MATT DAMON) is backed into a corner, he agrees to take on a daunting mission that if successful will not only save his life, but could bring equality to these polarized worlds.

Elysium stars Matt Damon, Jodie Foster, William Fichtner, Diego Luna, Alice Braga, Sharlto Copley

Release: August 9th, 2013
