In "The Matrix," he proved to audiences that he knew kung-fu. But in his latest action-adventure flick "47 Ronin," Keanu Reeves shows you that he can wield a samurai sword too. Here, Keanu stars as Kai, an outcast half-breed warrior who is forced to return to the home he was once exiled from, in order to help his fellow samurai brotherhood exact revenge on the evil warlord that killed their master.
Co-starring in "47 Ronin" is Hiroyuki Sanada (The Last Samurai) who will be seen in theaters this weekend battling "The Wolverine," while Rinko Kikuchi (just seen in "Pacific Rim") plays a wicked shape-shifting sorceress that stands between Kai and his destiny.
After a treacherous warlord kills their master and banishes their kind, 47 leaderless samurai vow to seek vengeance and restore honor to their people. Driven from their homes and dispersed across the land, this band of Ronin must seek the help of Kai (Reeves)—a half-breed they once rejected—as they fight their way across a savage world of mythic beasts, shape-shifting witchcraft and wondrous terrors. As this exiled, enslaved outcast becomes their most deadly weapon, he will transform into the hero who inspires this band of outnumbered rebels to seize eternity.
