Roland Emmerich Rebooting 'Stargate' Franchise With Trilogy Planned
Reported by Outsiders - 12:12 AM 2013.09.07

Roland Emmerich directed and co-wrote the original Stargate movie back in 1994 and he intends to reboot the Stargate franchise again as a new movie trilogy.

"We went to MGM, who has the rights, and proposed to them to do a sequel, but as a reboot... and reboot it as a movie and then do three parts. Pretty soon we'll have to look for a writer and start."

The 1994 version originally had stars Kurt Russell and James Spader but the director states he'll be working with a new cast for the reboot since it's been 20 years come next year. "The actors look totally different... it would not work."
