Matthew Johnson To Script 'Encyclopedia Brown' For Warner Bros.

Reported by Outsiders - 2013.10.15

Anyone over the age of 30 should remember the name and the books of "Encyclopedia Brown" from school. Anyone younger will be asking what is an encyclopedia? The reason for the educational flashback, according to Deadline is that Matthew Johnson, who wrote and directed The Dirties, is in talks with Warner Bros to draft Encyclopedia Brown into a family film. The adaptation of the book series by Donald J. Sobol, which the studio optioned earlier this year for Roy Lee and Howard David Deutsch to produce. The title was a nickname for the egghead protagonist Leroy Brown, who was the son of the police chief and solved kiddie crimes out of the family garage.
