Empire Magazine Covers From 'The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug'

Empire is going extreme this month when it comes to their magazine and The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug. They have created four limited-edition covers including Thorin Oakenshield (Richard Armitage) in Mirkwood, Gandalf the Grey in the dark domain of Dol Guldur and Bilbo, clutching Sting as he treads through Smaug's lair in Erebor. The last cover features Luke Evans' Bard the Bowman, a debutant in the second part of Peter Jackson's trilogy, seen here defending Lake-Town from fiery menace. The topper to the four covers is the special subscribers' cover which unites the four into one formidable quartet - quintet, if you include the eagle - against a backdrop of the Lonely Mountain.
The second in a trilogy of films adapting the enduringly popular masterpiece The Hobbit, by J.R.R. Tolkien, The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug continues the adventure of the title character Bilbo Baggins (Martin Freeman) as he journeys with the Wizard Gandalf (Ian McKellan) and thirteen Dwarves, led by Thorin Oakenshield (Richard Armitage) on an epic quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor.
The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug stars Martin Freeman, Andy Serkis, Richard Armitage, Ian McKellen, Stephen Fry, Stephen Hunter, Bret McKenzie, Graham McTavish, James Nesbitt, Lee Pace, Evangeline Lilly, Orlando Bloom
