With Pixar Animation Studios mainly laying low throughout most of this year, they aim to erupt in 2015 with their latest animated short film "Lava." Which will be attached to their next big screen feature film "Inside Out," starring the voices Amy Poehler, Mindy Kaling, Bill Hader, Phyllis Smith, and Lewis Black. Check out an early clip from the seven-minute short film which stars Hawaiian singer and entertainer Kuana Torres Kahele as a lonely volcano named Uku who has been searching for love for millions and millions of years.
Studio head of animation James Ford Murphy directs the short, who has said to been inspired by Jackie Gleeson, Chuck Jones' animated bulldog in "Feed the Kitty" and the late Hawaiian folk singer Israel Kamakawiwoʻole whose 1993 medley rendition of Judy Garland's "Over the Rainbow" and Louis Armstrong's "What a Wonderful World" has become a classic tune. Look for "Lava" to appear in theaters on June 19th, 2015.
