New Images Of 'Robin' And 'The Joker' From 'The Lego Batman Movie'

Reported by Outsiders - 2016.07.20

USA Today and Warner Bros Pictures have release four new images from The Batman Lego movie featuring the caped crusader's famed sidekick Robin (voiced by Michael Cera) and his arch-nemesis The Joker (Zach Galifianakis). The title might be about Batman but the Joker isn't taking a back-seat to batsie.

"The Joker sees himself on the same level as Batman, a peer, at the top of the game," director Chris McKay says. "But Batman says thatís not the case, which sends Joker into a spiral trying to prove to Batman that he is indeed the greatest enemy."

"That's kind of The Joker's General Patton car, where he can survey the battle," McKay says. The Joker with DC Comics sidekick Harley Quinn at the wheel. "Itís loud and flashy, the inner view of himself writ large in car form with crazy, zebra-striped seats."

Robin/Dick Grayson (Michael Cera) turns out to be a child that Batman's alter ego, billionaire Bruce Wayne, accidentally adopts at a charity auction. "Robin is a super-positive kid who always sees the glass as half full. Really, at the end of the day, he just wants a hug," McKay says. "Michael brings the sweetness and honesty."

The relationship causes trouble for Batman, who likes his solo life fighting crime or brooding as bachelor Bruce Wayne. Robin even breaks into Batman's extensive and eclectic wardrobe and falls for a random Reggae Man costume, with a sparkly sequined cape and green glasses. Robin modifies the gaudy garb, which becomes his own famed apparel ó with possibly more sparkle than comic fans are used to. Batman adjusts to the new life, but his troubles are typified by his unwillingness to share the Batmobile front seat. Robin's distracting cape-flapping doesn't help.

The movie is set for a February 10th, 2017 release but we'll get to see a new trailer being unveiled at Comic-Con this week.
