During Hasbro's 2009 Fall Investor Day Event held today at their headquarters in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, they announced a new My Little Pony show is currently in the works for their new joint venture network with Discovery.
The creative steward on the show will be Emmy award winning show runner and creator of “The Powerpuff Girls”, Lauren Faust. Lauren will be responsible for the story outlines that will serve as the blueprint for the new TV series and tie-in heavily with the merchandise side of the brand. She will lead a team of 18 members for the development of the show. Besides airing on the new Hasbro/Discover network, the show will be distributed internationally.
For competitive reasons, this was the only show they announced for the new network today. However they were willing to drop some names of the talent who will be working on programming for them such as Alex Kurtzman and Robert Orci who wrote the scripts for “Transformers” and “Transformers Revenge of the Fallen”. While no specifics were given, Hasbro also announced today a new 2010 initiative for Transformers called “Hunt for the Decepticons”. Could these two be working on a new Transformers television series? Others working on projects for the new network are Will Smith and Overbook Entertainment partner James Lassiter who are working on a pilot for the network, Jeff Kline who is a well-regarded animation show writers in the business (produced Men In Black and the Jackie Chan Adventures), and Adam Beechen who wrote shows for Scooby Doo and Ben 10.
