Amazon's new pilot season is upon us, and the streaming company has released a sizzle reel highlighting all five pilot episodes of new scripted shows (three comedies and two dramas) that prime members can watch and vote on, starting today, Thursday, August 28th. Like Amazon's previous runs, feedback from customers will play a significant part on which five pilots are awarded full-season pick-ups.
"Hand of God," starring Ron Perlman.
A drama that is executive produced and directed by "World War Z" helmer Marc Forster. Perlman is a hard-living judge with a sick son who becomes a vigilante after having visions that he believes have been sent to him by God.
"Red Oaks," starring Craig Roberts and Paul Reiser
Executive produced by Steven Soderbergh and directed by David Gordon Green. A coming-of-age comedy set in the 80s, about a nerdy college student (Roberts) who takes a summer job at a high-class tennis club.
"Hysteria," starring Mena Suvari and T.R. Knight
From creator Shaun Cassidy (Invasion, American Gothic) and British producer/director Otto Bathurst (BBC's Peaky Blinders). A psychological drama about a brilliant neurologist (Suvari ) who returns to her hometown in Texas to investigate a strange case of hysteria that has been rapidly spreading around the community through social media.
"Really," starring Sarah Chalke and Selma Blair
Broken Lizard's Jay Chandrasekhar produces, directs and also co-stars in this ensemble comedy about four suburban couples who are entering a grown-up stage of their lives, while the same time having a really tough time letting go of their youths. Collette Wolfe, Lindsay Sloane, Luka Jones and Hayes MacArthur co-star.
"The Cosmopolitans," starring Adam Brody and Chloe Sevigny
Created, written and directed by Whit Stillman (Damsels in Distress, The Last Days of Disco). A dry comedy about a posh group of American expats living in Paris.
