SDCC 2013 - Ender's Game - 'Battle School Needs You!' Clip

Reported by Outsiders - 2013.07.18

The futuristic movie, opening in theaters on November 1st, is based on a popular 1985 novel, which tells the story of a young boy soldier in-training (Hugo's Asa Butterfield) who becomes humanity's last hope for defeating an ominous alien race. It's also slated to make an appearance at this week's San Diego Comic Con, despite a developing boycott movement due to book author Orson Scott Card's controversial views against gay marriage.

Director/writer Gavin Hood (X-Men Origins: Wolverine) and producers Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci have since condemned Scott Card's opposition, and it's very likely that further signs to separate the film from the science-fiction author will continue when the studio presents the movie at Hall H this Thursday.

In the near future, a hostile alien race called the Formics have attacked Earth. If not for the legendary heroics of International Fleet Commander Mazer Rackham (Ben Kingsley), all would have been lost. In preparation for the next attack, the highly esteemed Colonel Hyrum Graff (Harrison Ford) and the International Military are training only the best young minds to find the future Mazer.

Ender Wiggin (Asa Butterfield), a shy but strategically brilliant boy, is recruited to join the elite. Arriving at Battle School, Ender quickly and easily masters increasingly difficult challenges and simulations, distinguishing himself and winning respect amongst his peers. Ender is soon ordained by Graff as the military’s next great hope, resulting in his promotion to Command School. Once there, he’s trained by Mazer Rackham himself to lead his fellow soldiers into an epic battle that will determine the future of Earth and save the human race.

Ender's Game stars Asa Butterfield, Harrison Ford, Ben Kingsley, Hailee Steinfeld, Abigail Breslin, Moises Arias, Viola Davis, Aramis Knight, Jimmy Pinchak and is released on November 1st, 2013
