SDCC 2013: Metallica Through The Never - Full-Length Trailer

Reported by Outsiders - 06:44 PM 2013.07.20

Metallica and geeks -- together at last! The legendary metal gods arrived in San Diego Comic-Con on Friday and reportedly tore the roof off of Hall H. It's the first time the veteran head bangers appeared at the geek convention, but they weren't there just for the sweaty scenery. They came to promote their upcoming IMAX 3D concert film "Metallica Through the Never," and gave fans a look at this brand-new full-length trailer.

Right off the bat, you can tell it's not only a concert film. There's also a storyline concerning an unlucky roadie (played by Dane DeHaan; next seen in "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" as Harry Osborn) who finds himself trapped in the middle of downtown Los Angeles when a massive riot breaks out. He soon gets an eyeful of mayhem: Cops fighting guys with bats. Gas-mask-wearing rioters on horses. Bloody hand-prints on walls. All while the band is safe, rocking out at a nearby venue.

Award-winning filmmaker Nimrod Antal creates a groundbreaking 3-D motion picture event, Metallica Through the Never. The music-driven feature film combines a bold narrative and spectacular live-performance footage of one of the most popular and influential rock bands in history to produce a bracing, raw and visceral cinematic experience. Emerging young star Dane DeHaan portrays Trip, a young roadie sent on an urgent mission during Metallica’s roaring live set in front of a sold-out arena.

Metallica Through The Never stars Dane DeHaan, James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich, Kirk Hammett, Robert Trujillo

Release: September 27, 2013 (Limited), October 4, 2013 (Expands)
