Mission Impossible - Ghost Protocol could possibly be the best Mission Impossible movie to date, or at the very least a close tie with the first one. The action, sounds and visual effects of the movie are incredible, at least when viewed on a IMAX screen. There were literally times when I jumped out of my chair because of the sound effects.
The plot finds the entire IMF disavowed because Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) and his team are blamed for blowing up part of the Kremlin. This of course is all a set up and so Ethan and company must set out to clear their names and stop the real bad guys.
One of the things I liked about this movie is the return to a team dynamic opposed to focusing primarily on the Ethan Hunt character. Mission Impossible to me has always been about a team working together to save the world, and that is what you get with this movie. Ethan’s new team includes Benji (Simon Pegg) who returns from the last movie as the team’s computer and tech guy. He is joined by Jane (Paula Patton) who is the female badass of the team and Brandt (Jeremy Renner) who is an analyst that may just be more than meets the eye.
The movie is filled with tons of action, cool gadgets that would give James Bond a run for his money, and plenty of twists and turns. The only fault I would give the film is that there is a bit of a stretch in the realism department with how the movie ends. Of course, does anyone one really go to a film of this type for realism? I don’t think so; they go to be entertained and that is exactly what this movie does.
Mission Impossible - Ghost Protocol is a must see film for any action junkie or fan of the Mission Impossible series.
