The Men In Black are back and saving the Earth from alien riffraff. Both Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones return to reprise their roles as Agent J & K. In this third installment of the franchise, the two must work together to stop Boris The Animal (Jemaine Clement), or as he prefers to be called, just Boris. Boris is an alien determined to exact revenge on Agent K for shooting off one of his arms, and to achieve his goal he’s willing to rewrite history. To stop Boris and save his partner, J must travel back to 1969 where he teams up with a young Agent K (Josh Brolin) to save the day.
The movie has all the cool MIB gadgets and whacky aliens you’ve come to expect from the franchise, but where I think the movie shines the most is in the scenes between Brolin and Smith in 1969. Brolin does a brilliant job portraying a young Agent K. You could honestly believe that you are watching a younger version of Tommy Lee Jones on the screen.
The special effects for the film are on par with the first two movies and though the 3D doesn’t detract from the movie, I didn’t feel it added a whole lot either. In other words I think you can enjoy this one as much in 2D as 3D.
The overall plot and chemistry between the actors is much stronger than what we got in Men In Black 2, and it will keep you interested from beginning to end as well as tug on the ol’ heartstrings just a little.
Men In Black 3 is a good fun movie that the entire family can enjoy.
