Chinese Democracy is the newest album from the band, Guns N' Roses and it has taken over 13 years to release, 13 million dollars to produce and over a dozen old and new band members to record and the wait was worth it.
Guns N' Roses which consists of just the original front-man, W. Axl Rose with a slew of hired guns has taken all the truth, rumors, gossip, controversy and anything else you can think of that has tried to engulf the band and it's past 13 years of absence, mixed into a huge kettle and has called it, Chinese Democracy.
The lyrics and melodies explode with anger from the opening track titled, "Chinese Democracy" with an traditional ear-splitting scream from Axl himself to the relationship and life sacrifices of "Better" and "Street of Dreams".
Tracks such as "Shackler's Revenge", "There Was A Time", "I.R.S." and "Riad N' The Bedouins" prove to you what made Guns N' Roses once of the most hard rocking bands of the 80's and early 90's with touch of fast paced, over the edge splitting sound of guitars and drums with a the precious moment of mixing before slowing the melody down for the likes of "Sorry", "This I Love" and "Prostitute".
The whole album provides you with an insight of both the good times and bad times of Axl Rose as he invites you in to his world. Majority of the songs will grab you by the throat and take you for a wild ride but there are some songs that will make you do a double listen before you decide that it's something that Guns N' Roses from years past would have release?
Is the album worth the 13 years plus in the making?
The album itself is worth the time and emotion spent but I believe the power of these songs could have been released within a 5 to 6 year span and produced and recorded with the original members of Slash and Duff and any hired Gunner for guitar and drums. Rumor has it that Rose has written enough material for 4 albums so we might start seeing Guns N' Roses albums popping up sooner than 13 years apart.
Overall, if you are a Guns N' Roses fan than you will want the album just to prove to yourself that the album was released and you finally have it. Even if you were once a fan but feel let down because this album doesn't have any original members left but Axl Rose, than now is maybe a good time to listen to Guns N' Roses again and make up your mind. It's only been 13 years so what are you waiting for?
