The departed is set in Boston where Billy Costigan, a rookie cop gets recruited for an undercover mission. When he first entered the bureau they told him they could only use him as an undercover. They have some trust issues with Billy because of his family’s history. So if he ever wants to make it as a cop he’ll have to do that job.
Part of his mission is to get himself into Costello’s (Jack Nicholsons) gang. Costello is a ruthless crime boss who doesn’t hesitate a second to put a bullet in your head. Billy earns Costello’s trust and a spot in the syndicate by kicking the crap out of people.
Costello isn’t stupid so he has also got a mole in the police department. Colin Sullivan (Matt Damon) provides him with useful information. Colin was practical raised by Costello making him the most trust worthy person. But in a world like this, who can you really trust 100%, right?
When everything turns into chaos in both the police and the syndicate, personalities will collide. But who will make the first mistake?
Please bring an oscar for Jack Nicholson. His performance took my breath away! Not that I expected less from him! He plays a crime boss who you can both love and hate. Sometimes he even throws in a joke.
I never expected Leonardo DiCaprio playing a role like this. But boy was I wrong? Kicking the crap out of someone really fits him!
Matt Damon, yes Matt Damon. What can I say about him? He’s acting gets better and better each movie!
I really like this movie I don’t love it but I like it. In the end there are too much twists in the story which can make it a bit unbelievable. So this movie isn’t flawless but it comes pretty close!
