The music is as gothic as the plot and visuals, filled with industrial guitar and haunting melodies. Quite a few are catchy little numbers that I've found myself singing along to on follow-up viewings. It's not meant to be a super
serious presentation, and it really shouldn't be taken that way if you want to enjoy it. Repo! is simply twisted fun. For such a small budget, the powers behind Repo! really pulled off a stunning presentation. Not to mention the great acting from everyone involved. I didn't even mind Paris Hilton (or maybe I just enjoyed watching her face
fall off?) The level of attention paid to detailing costumes, sets, and everything else is incredible.
If nothing else, Repo! is a success because it's like nothing else. It carries a lot atmosphere that just lingers for hours after you've seen it. It's nice to see something that's not a remake or a sequel once and a while.
Sadly, I missed this flick in its limited theatrical run, but it's still awesome on DVD. Aside from the film, you get an interesting behind the scenes look at how the creators adapted the stage show to a feature film, plus
multiple commentaries from the cast and crew.
I will definitely be looking forward to seeing this live when the stage show does more touring, or at eventual midnight showings along with the Rocky Horror crowd. Give this movie a watch and I'll see you there.
