Heroes - Cold Wars

Reviewed by maroon5gurl88 - Tue February 24, 2009

The Story: Matt, Mohinder and Peter capture Noah in an attempt to figure out who’s hunting them. In the process they discover how all the events of Nathan’s plans came into effect and another Hero’s life hangs in the balance. Nathan and Danko are tested to take the Heroes out once and for all.

Pros: I love that Heroes is not trying to overextend themselves with these smaller stories which allows things to flesh out smoother and more fully. In terms of this week’s episode we finally learn about Nathan’s “containment” project and how it all led up to the current events. I adore Noah Bennett as a character and this was all about him. You see him trying to live the calm family life yet yearning to get back into the fray. I also found myself feeling for Nathan after hating him for the last few weeks. The writers really tried to give him some humanity this episode and you finally can understand a bit what his thought process is with his story arc. Danko also had some time to shine and this episode was all about sowing the seeds for next week when he finally goes rouge and takes matters into his own hands. I also enjoyed Nathan’s big plan to remove the abilities instead of just hunting the heroes to put them in camps. It acknowledges all the work Mohinder was doing last time instead of starting fresh. Big thumbs up to the season one shout-out with the bomb on the floor of Isaac’s apartment, only this time it’s Washington D.C. that’s set to explode. This is finally the big season ender extravaganza fans have been waiting for and hopefully we’ll get a finale equal to the first one.

Cons: I know they were a huge aspect of this season but Matt is becoming my least favorite character. It’s not that actor Greg Grunberg is bad in the role it’s just that Matt has become incredibly whiny and annoying. I also really hated that Daphne is still alive because it brings back memories of all the character death/rebirths from the last season that became really tedious.

Overall: Another good episode with some explanation on events and a big lead up for the rest of the season. I give this episode a 3/5.
