ENI REVIEW

Reviewed by maroon5gurl88 on Wed October 28, 2009

Oh Heroes you fooled me into thinking things were different only to put right back into the position of bashing you. This episode was just downright silly and unbelievable, and not in a good way. From lesbian relationships to a murder that came out of left field it almost seems like everything and the kitchen sink is being thrown into the series at this point.

Matt attempts to get rid of the Sylar in his head once and for all, but it ends up slipping him back into alcoholism. Claire and Gretchen are stuck in a sorority scavenger hunt from hell. Tracy is called in to help Noah deal with the cops after they arrest Jeremy, and she ends up being led to Samuel and the carnival.

Well this episode gets props for creativity if nothing else. Sylar was ultra devious this week, slipping into Matt's body in order to have sex with his wife. This is the greatest aspect of him bothering Matt since Parkman so desperately wants to be normal. Sylar's constant taunts and putdowns were hilarious even if the plot was a bit odd. Claire and Gretchen provided some fun with the scavenger hunt, especially once it turned murderous. It'll be interesting to see if Claire turns to Noah since the two sorority sisters saw her impaled on that meat hook, or if she'll find some way to use the bonds of sisterhood to keep them quiet. Samuel destroying the town was a wonderful ending shot since we got to see him use his ability on such a grand scale. So far we'd seen him do small earth-moving tricks but watching him level a police station was fantastic and shows that his ability is definitely one that can hurt people.

This episode was just downright weird and silly! Matt and Sylar are getting old if only because Matt is so boring. The Sylar issue has already robbed him of his job, but having his whole domestic life get in the way was just boring. If Sylar really is in Matt's body, in total control, that should be fun but having this back and forth just seems pointless. Claire and Gretchen and their constant relationship drama just seemed out of place. They're placed in this sorority scavenger hunt yet there is constant focus on them being together that just seems like it should take place in a different setting. While the relationship would be interesting, all things considered, at this point it seems like a total ratings grab. The fact that there's several moments to sit down and talk about “strange attractors” seems like it's meant to say “hey we might develop a lesbian romance.” And that brings us to Jeremy, Noah and Tracy. There's no way to discuss this plot without saying SPOILERS! The cop killing Jeremy was downright stupid. Sure he had an ability but the fact that the cop concocts this elaborate death with a truck just seemed ridiculous and a little overkill, pun intended. I mean sure the kid had an ability but was that any reason to chain him to a truck by his ankles?! It's easy to say that it's meant to lure Tracy to the carnival but anybody watching this would say that would never fly in reality.

Overall this episode was just ridiculous. Next week has Hiro reuniting with Charlie, played by Jayma Mays, which is supposed to be really good so here's hoping. It just seems like the writing has lost all direction and there's no forward momentum. This weeks gets a 2.5/5.
